The power of dreams!

MASERU-STANDARD Lesotho Bank has announced 10 businesses that have made it to the list of finalists for the Entrepreneur Support Competition.
The winners stand to share a pot of M600 000 in prize money that is meant to boost their businesses to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Winners will be announced on Lesotho Television on December 9.

The bank says the M600 000 prize money will be used to stock up and continue with their businesses.
The competition was launched in September this year to help businesses survive the Covid-19 pandemic.

“As a bank, we are excited that Basotho businesses including those that do not bank with us heeded our call as we extended support to spur the economy,’’ Manyathela Kheleli, the Acting Head of Marketing, said.
He said the initiative is part of the bank’s new brand positioning and mark the bank’s 25th anniversary. He said they continue to find new ways to make Basotho’s dreams come true.

‘I strongly believe that this competition will ignite the power of dreams within our entrepreneurs and inspire hope in our business community to say that despite the challenges, indeed, It Can Be,” he said.
He said the prizes are not a loan ‘‘but capital grants that will be monitored to ensure that winning businesses survive the Covid-19 pandemic and grow’’.

Kheleli said about 182 businesses applied countrywide for the support. The businesses were from such sectors as retailing, manufacturing, agriculture, services, food supply and infrastructure.
