Councillor dumps ABC

MASERU – STADIUM Area All Basotho Convention (ABC) councillor, Busetsa Khutlisi, has dumped the party to join the Socialist Revolutionary (SR) party, alleging that the ABC was stifling his progress.
He left the party on Wednesday last week.

Khutlisi told thepost that he has already agreed with SR leader Teboho Mojapela that he will join the party after some negotiations.
“Those who want to join SR with me should do so but those who want to remain in the ABC should feel free to do so,” he said.
He accused the ABC of failing to support his work as a councilor and neglecting the electorate.

The ABC had not engaged the councilors since they got into power more than a year ago, alleged Khutlisi.
“I once visited our head office and they did not even know me, they only realized who I was when I showed them my party card,” he said.
“My other problem is the office of our constituency. They do not like me. I do not have bad blood against the constituency representative Mokherane Tsatsanyane, who is also my brother,” he said.

He said he reported his concerns to the party representative several times but nothing changed.
“I am now officially a member of the SR after 12 years in the ABC,” he said.
He said he made it clear to ABC members who elected him that they should not leave their party if they still love it.
Khutlisi said he would continue working for his constituency until 2022 when he hopes his new party would win elections.
