Two killed in army operation

MASERU – SOLDIERS shot and killed two men who were allegedly trying to steal power cables last Thursday morning at Kao Mine.
Two other people were injured in the shooting, according to the army’s spokesperson who said three suspects escaped.
In a statement Lieutenant Colonel Mashidi Mashidi there have been reports of armed thieves attacking guards and other people who try to stop them from stealing at the mine.
The reports, he said, have been going on for quite a long time until the LDF sent in soldiers.

“Our soldier responded with shooting, killing two men and injuring two more while three others managed to escape,” he said in the statement.
It was later discovered that the thieves were going to steal electric cables at the Kao Mine.
The statement said a soldier also sustained injuries during the fatal shootout and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The statement further said a pistol was recovered after the bloody altercation.
