Bantu duo may join Chippa United

MASERU-Bantu are in advanced talks with South African outfit Chippa United over the potential transfers of Bokang Sello and Tsietsi Khooa who are on the radar of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) side.

It is understood new Chippa coach Lehlohonolo Seema is keen on adding the two players to his squad having already signed former Bantu player Moloisane Ramasimong.
There is no agreement yet on the fee but Bantu have a figure in mind and have communicated it to Chippa United.

The club is aware the players are eager to go compete in South Africa and follow in the footsteps of Tumelo Khutlang and Motebang Sera who are on the books of Black Leopards and Bloemfontein Celtic respectively after moves from Lioli and Matlama.

Bantu say they do not wish to make things difficult for the players and will ask for a reasonable amount for the pair.
Seema, a former Lesotho captain, took charge of Chippa United in July after spending the past two years coaching Bloemfontein Celtic. He played a major role in Sera’s move to Celtic last year.

On Monday, the Econet Premier League champions confirmed talks are underway with Chippa United over their interest in Sello and Khooa.
The club’s spokesperson, Bokang Phasumane, said Bantu received an official invitation for talks from Chippa United and it remains to be seen how the negotiations will go.

If these two deals go through, Bantu’s management will look to bring replacements to strengthen the team as they will be competing in the CAF Champions League but they will take recommendations from the side’s technical team led by Bob Mafoso.

“Yes, they will have to be replaced and because we are playing CAF; they have to be replaced by quality players and we will hear from the coach what he says,” said a source privy to the situation.

Sello is a full Lesotho international who has represented his country on several occasions including last year’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

He is in the Likuena team preparing for next month’s AFCON qualifiers against Benin. Sello is one of the key players at Bantu and played a key role in their unbeaten run to the Econet Premier League title last season. His departure and that of Khooa would be a blow to ‘A Matšo Matebele’.
