Kick4Life striker Thabiso Brown left the country on Monday to begin trials at Ukrainian Premier League side Chornomorets Odesa.
Brown started his trials yesterday and Kick4Life football director Chris Bullock is confident the youngster will impress Chornomorets’s technical team.
Bullock called the try-out a big step in Brown’s career saying the striker will learn a lot from his experience with the Ukrainian club even if his trial is unsuccessful.
“(Brown) left on Monday and started his trials (yesterday). I am not sure how long he is going to be there for, it will depend on how he performs. It might take long, I am not really sure,” Bullock told thepost yesterday.
“There were agreements before he left and if he impresses the technical team we will not stand in his way. This is a big step for him in his career to play internationally,” he added.
Chornomorets finished the 2015/16 season in 11th place in the 14-team Ukrainian Premier League with 22 points.
Speaking at Kick4Life’s end of season media briefing last month, Brown, who has been watched by several clubs, said he was not interested in joining a local premier league team. Bullock said the 20-year-old has what it takes to make the grade in Ukraine.
“I am confident that he will impress the team but, even if he doesn’t, he will learn a lot from this experience and it help him going forward,” Bullock said.
Brown has enjoyed a meteoric rise since joining Kick4Life from the B-Division in 2014 and won his first Lesotho cap last year.
Should Brown move to Chornomorets it will be a boost to Lesotho’s football.
Currently, Tšotleho Jane is the only national team player abroad. Jane plies his trade for Richmond Kickers in the United States.
