Chippa transfers stall

Chippa transfers stall

MASERU-The transfer of a Bantu duo to South African outfit Chippa United is stalling because negotiations haven’t progressed for two weeks now despite Chippa agreeing personal terms and two-year contracts with the players.

The players in question are Tsietsi Khooa and Bokang Sello whom Bantu have already given their clearances, but they are still to complete their transfers.
Bantu are demanding M150 000 for both players and have communicated that amount to the South Africa Premier Soccer League club which is coached by former Lesotho captain Lehlohonolo Seema.
At the moment it is unclear if Chippa are trying to lower the asking price or if they are willing to pay.

However, Bantu feel M150 000 is a reasonable fee for two key players they are set to lose ahead of their involvement in the CAF Champions League next month.
A source at Bantu said: “At the moment the negotiations have not moved since the last time because Chippa have this problem with signing players, but the players already have a deal with them and we have already given them their clearances. The money we are asking for is for both of them.”
Chippa United do not have a transfer ban as it has been widely reported.

However, football’s world governing body, FIFA, ruled against the club in a case involving two Botswana players who moved from Gaborone United to Chippa in 2018/19 season. Chippa failed to pay the full transfer fee and the Botswana club took the matter to FIFA who ruled in their favour and ordered the South African side to pay up or face a lengthy transfer ban.

Last week Friday, Chippa released a statement saying they have decided they will immediately pay the amounts, as per FIFA’s decision, in order for the registration process of its players to be completed while they wait for FIFA to hear their side.
