Matlama to hold executive elections

MASERU – Econet Premier League giants Matlama are set to hold executive elections on Sunday at Lehakoe Recreational Centre.
The four-year term of the current ‘Tse Putsoa’ committee expired last August after coming to power in 2013.
The club then held an extraordinary conference last November but it ended in chaos when some executive members were accused of not having authentic Matlama membership cards.

The crowd gathered at Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena that day refused to be addressed by ‘Tse Putsoa’ secretary general Liteboho Tlebere claiming he does not have a Matlama membership card.
Ahead of Sunday’s conference, the club’s spokesperson, Tankiso Moletsane, insisted this time around nobody will be allowed to enter the Lehakoe hall without a proper membership card.
Speaking to thepost on Wednesday, Moletsane called on Matlama fans that do not have cards to stay away as security will be tight.

“There was no chaos in the last special conference, what happened is that there were members that did not have membership cards and they had to leave,” Moletsane said.
“We had security at the gate checking the cards but we don’t know how they got in on that day without the card.

“But it will be different this time around, we are going to have tight security and no one will be allowed to enter without the membership card.
“I am urging people who don’t have them to stay away, don’t come if you don’t have (a membership card),” he insisted.
Moletsane said the contestants for the various positions will be finalised on Sunday when it is time to vote.

The executive positions set to be filled are that of president, vice-president, secretary general, vice-secretary general, treasurer as well as the spots for the four executive members.
