Sello’s Arrows move collapses
MASERU-Likuena and Bantu defender Bokang Sello is back in the country after a move to South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit Golden Arrows failed to materialise, despite Bantu announcing they had reached an agreement with Golden Arrows for his transfer late last year.
The highly-rated defender was originally expected to join another PSL outfit, Chippa United, last December which at the time was coached by former Lesotho captain Lehlohonolo Seema.
However, when the move to Chippa fell through Seema recommended Sello to Golden Arrows who started to negotiate with Bantu for Sello’s transfer.
Sources say Sello was set to sign a two-year deal but surprisingly Golden Arrows never confirmed the deal. He is now back in the country and is expected to join up with Bantu.
thepost, however, has learnt that the club has given Sello a chance to find another club in South Africa and if the opportunity to move to greener pastures arises the leftback will be allowed to leave.
The official reason being put out for Sello’s failed move is that the Golden Arrows technical team felt they did not need another foreign player in the position he plays.
However, thepost has learnt from a reliable source that Golden Arrows were very clear to Bantu as to why the move failed and the PSL club apparently cited “a bad attitude in training” as the reason.
“He will have to come back to us, he is our player, you will remember he signed a new deal (with Bantu) before he left,” a source at Bantu said.
“We did everything for this move to happen, we did things that were not even our responsibility like getting a police clearance (for Sello). It usually takes time to get it but we got involved and it came out quick.”
The source expressed disappointment that Sello’s dream move to South Africa fell through.
“It’s bad attitude in training, that’s what they told us, that he has a bad attitude, and that is what is killing a lot of our players when they go outside the country,” the source said.
“We have given him a chance to look for another club outside the country. If he finds it we will let him join, if not he comes back.”
