MASERU – NTSIE Mafatle smiled all the way to the bank last Friday after he won a M200 000 cash prize from the Econet Baso200 Campaign.
The campaign is Econet Telecom Lesotho’s way of celebrating the 200 years of the founding of the Basotho kingdom, which started last year when the nation marked the Basotho Bicentennial celebration.
However, the Baso200 Campaign started in November and will end in March.
The communications company is celebrating the founding of the Basotho kingdom and unification of Basotho clans by Moshoeshoe the Great in 1824 by awarding cash to its customers through the Baso200 Campaign.
Mafatle is the second winner of the campaign since it started.
Retšelisitsoe Nkhahle, a Public Relations Officer at the Econet, said they are thrilled to celebrate Mafatle as their second winner of the M200 000 grand prize.
Nkhahle said the campaign had already paid close to M900 000 in cash to winners of different categories since the launch of the campaign.
“This is a true testament that we are committed to rewarding loyalty and transforming lives,” Nkhahle said.
“We have amazing prizes up for grabs before the campaign concludes in March,” he said.
“There is M2 000 in daily prizes, M10 000 in cash or smartphone in weekly prizes, and the final M200 000 monthly prize,” he said.
He said the Baso200 Campaign was launched to celebrate Lesotho’s bicentennial and reward Econet’s customers.
In addition he said the last winner of the campaign will be rewarded with a brand new Toyota GD6.
He further encouraged Econet subscribers to continue participating in the competition to increase their chances of winning.
“To participate, new Econet subscribers only need to buy Nalane bundles from a minimum of M10 to unlock 200 locals seconds, 200 ELT-ELT daily minutes and 11.3GB data,” he said.
“Through location-based activations, Econet has travelled across the country taking the Baso200 Campaign to communities to ensure that every Mosotho can participate,” he said.
He also said this on-the ground engagement is complemented by virtual activations, leveraging technology to ensure everyone, regardless of location, has access to the opportunity.
Nkhahle said Econet is committed to giving back to its customers because of their good relationship.
Mafatle said he spent only M200 to buy the Nalane bundles.
“I have never imagined winning this kind of money,” Mafatle said.
“I am so grateful for this big award that I am receiving from Econet, which is the biggest thing that has ever happened to me,” he said.
“I started buying bundles from as little as M10 daily bundles then monthly bundles of M200 and I was just doing it not knowing that today I would be a winner,” he said.
Mafatle said this is going to change his life and also help his business grow.
Mafatle said at first he only heard of people winning Econet campaign prizes and today he is a witness that indeed Econet is committed to giving back to the community.
“I would once again like to thank Econet for this opportunity and would like to assure other customers that they can still be winners,” he said.
