Judgment delayed

MASERU-JUDGMENT in the Thibello Nteso murder case was delayed on Monday after a lawyer pleaded with the court to stop proceedings because she now had new evidence in the matter.

Crown counsel Advocate ’Naki Nku told High Court judge Justice Moroke Mokhesi that she had just discovered new evidence.
Advocate Nku promised to file her application for inclusion of new evidence today.
“One if my crown witnesses told me that there was something he omitted during his testimony,” Advocate Nku said.

“However, he said he did not say it because he was told not to say it,” she said.
“It is in that application that I will be filing where it will be known who told the witness not to say anything and why.”
She apologised to the court for stopping its proceedings.
“This, my Lord, is very important. I cannot waste the court’s time for nothing.”
Police Constables Moeketsi Dlamini and Monaheng ’Musi shot Nteso dead near the residence of former Police Commissioner Molahlehi Letsoepa in

Maseru West on February 6, 2017.
They have since told the court that they acted in self-defence, saying Nteso shot them first when they tried to stop him after they suspected he might have committed a crime.

The court has however heard how police officers tried to cover up the murder and how they also tampered with the crime scene.
At the time of his death, Nteso, who was the Lesotho Electricity Company (LEC)’s internal auditor, was investigating a corruption scandal involving M170 million at the company.
