In a bold move, Dr Tšepo Lipholo recently travelled to the United Nations headquarters in New York to submit a petition calling for the return of Lesotho’s stolen land.
This courageous act has sparked intense debates across social media, with opinions strongly divided.
The Basotho Congress Party (BCP) made the return of the stolen land into a slogan in the 1993 elections and I was raised to believe in the cause for the return of our stolen land.
Every time we meet, as we start our meetings, rallies or conferences we face the east and sing “Lesotho has been bought with a costly price, including the blood of some Basotho, who died in wars.”
I am a disciple of Ntsu Mokhehle.
As I reflect on this pivotal moment, I want to categorically declare my unwavering support for Dr Lipholo’s efforts.
Dr Lipholo’s petition is more than just a plea; it’s a testament to the Basotho people’s unrelenting quest for justice and self-determination.
For far too long, Lesotho’s rich history and cultural heritage have been overshadowed by the painful legacy of colonisation and land dispossession.
The return of our land is not only a moral imperative but also a necessary step towards reclaiming our nation’s dignity and sovereignty.
Regrettably, a malicious video has been circulating online, featuring Mehmet Vefa Dag, the leader of the Truth and Solidarity Movement, a political party in South Africa, claiming that Dr Lipholo’s efforts are sponsored by Mossad, Israel’s secret agency.
These baseless allegations seek to discredit Dr Lipholo’s noble initiative and undermine the legitimate aspirations of the Basotho people.
Let me be crystal clear, such unfounded claims hold no water, and I will not be swayed by these desperate attempts to tarnish Dr Lipholo’s reputation.
The return of our land is an inherent right, enshrined in the principles of self-determination and sovereignty.
It is time for us to take control of our destiny, to dictate the course of our nation’s development, and to reclaim the resources that rightfully belong to us.
Dr Lipholo’s petition is a beacon of hope, inspiring our people to stand together and demand what is rightfully ours.
As we navigate these trying times, it is essential that we stand united in our quest for justice and equality.
Dr Lipholo’s unyielding dedication to our nation’s cause is a shining example of the power of determination and perseverance.
I have noticed that Japan Mntambo has been suspended for facilitating a visa approval process for Dr Lipholo.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has done this to please their masters in South Africa.
We must not allow petty squabbles or unfounded allegations to distract us from our ultimate goal, the return of our land and the empowerment of our people.
As I proudly stand in solidarity with Dr Tšepo Lipholo, I urge all Basotho to join me in this noble crusade. Together, we can overcome the obstacles that have hindered our progress for far too long.
Let us celebrate our rich heritage, honour our ancestors, and forge a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come.
We want our land back!
