Ncheke set to be elected new volleyball boss

MASERU-The Lesotho Volleyball Association (LVA) will elect a new executive committee at Setsoto Stadium this weekend.
Lehlohonolo Ncheke of Mahlaseli Volleyball Club is set to be elected unopposed for the presidential post while the position of who will be his second in command will be hotly contested by Masoli Khoanyane and Letsatsi Ntsibolane.

To ensure a fair election, the LVA has asked the Lesotho Sport and Recreation Commission (LSRC) to help with independent overseers who will run the whole electoral process.

Palo Mohlotsane will lead an Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) team for the elections and the same will also happen next week for the highly-anticipated Lesotho Amateur Athletics Association (LAAA) elections.
The LVA’s secretary general, Sebolelo Nthlokoe, said the engagement of the LSRC to help oversee the elections is to ensure nobody comes out of the process aggrieved.

Ntlhokoe said the LVA believes all candidates have the association’s best interests at heart and the LVA will be in good hands, no matter who gets elected.
“I think all the nominees have what it takes to govern well and help volleyball to grow as a sport,” she said.

Ntlhokoe is also up for re-election as secretary general but faces competition from ‘Mathato Machela and Mahlapane Tšehlo.
Another position that is being fiercely contested is for the vice-president of technical affairs with the race between Tanki Nkaki and Zongezile Dlangamandla.

Pitso Tjabane will be elected unopposed for the vice-president of finance while Kananelo Hanyane and Tšoeu Mooka, both of whom are athlete representatives, are running for the second and third committee member positions respectively.

A campaign for change in the LVA leadership started last year when members of the volleyball community blasted the current committee for not being proactive and demanded change.
