Taekwondo elections set for weekend

MASERU-The Lesotho Taekwondo Association (LTA) is finally heading to an elective conference this Saturday at Setsoto Stadium.
The association was supposed to have held its elections last year but kept postponing because its members repeatedly filed court cases stopping them.

The LTA again tried to hold elections earlier this year but they were stopped by a High Court judgment which ruled that nine clubs should be excluded from the LTA’s annual general meeting and elections because their membership had been terminated and the clubs never reapplied for renewal.

On March 13, the association was supposed to host elections but they were cancelled at the last minute by the Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC).
In order to resolve the standoff between the association and its members, the Lesotho Sport and Recreation Commission (LSRC) appointed an independent body appointed to deal with issues between both parties.

It is believed that although there are still issues between the two sides, they have all agreed to go to the elections for the sake of the association as they couldn’t postpone elections anymore.
How the elections will go and if they will proceed without any chaos remains to be seen.

The LTA is not the only association that will be electing a new executive committee this weekend.
The Lesotho Netball Association (LNA) and the Lesotho Table Tennis Association (LTTA) will also be holding elections but all eyes are on taekwondo.
